Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Re-architecting and migrating applications and servers to a cloud environment (virtual servers, containers and abstracted services).
- Designing processes that enable Development and Operations to build and deploy our applications from code to production and everything between.
- Enhancing the uptime and scaling of multiple business applications, including 24×7 support of their health.
- Building solutions for source control, continuous integration, and automated testing and release management.
- Supporting internal tools to support software engineering best practices.
- Tuning our systems to get maximum performance and cost efficiency, and seek opportunities to improve performance across applications.
- Developing proactive measurement and monitoring of application capacities and performance, to enable unhindered business scaling and application uptime.
- Defining and advocating security best practices and conducting regular audits.
- Communicating your work to team members and stakeholders in an effective, collaborative manner.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, with background in Computer Science or Engineering preferred.
- Deep understanding of DevOps, systems engineering, CI/CD principles and trends.
- 5+ years of experience managing servers and applications in a hybrid cloud environment.
- 5+ years experience with Linux or other comparable operating systems, including building rpms and building/maintaining Yum repositories.
- 5+ years experience with script development (Python, bash) and their use in automating systems administrations tasks and managing Linux services.
- 5+ years experience with Java based applications including servlet deployment with Jetty, Tomcat, or other servlet containers in conjunction with web servers, web proxies and load balancers.
- 3+ years of experience in life cycle, infrastructure as code, configuration management and source control using tools such as Cloudformation, Terraform, Puppet, Chef, CFEngine, Ansible, GitHub, Bitbucket
- 3+ years of experience with Agile, workflow automation, and collaboration tools such as Jenkins/Hudson, JIRA, Confluence, and testing suites.
- 3+ years of experience with large-scale monitoring, logging and alerting systems such as Nagios, Datadog, Ganglia, Cloudwatch, Splunk.
